Kindermusik by Cathy Siebert is happy and proud to bring the joy of music and movement to families. Classes are definitely fun, but we also take pride in the growth of all the developmental domains for children. Whether it be in the cognitive, language, emotional, physical, social or musical domain, we see children grow, learn and parents learn about their children. The parent is considered to be the primary educator and we strive to give parents tools to work with their children using the at-home-materials. The capstone of the program are the Young Child classes. Children study a composer each term, instruments of the orchestra, multi-cultural music (Africa, Mexico, Pacific Rim, Alpen region, Native American, jazz, ballet and more) in addition to learn to read, write and compose music using traditional notation. They learn to play a string (dulcimer), wind (recorder) and keyboard (glockenspiel) and when all 3 are learned, play them in ensembles. Their listening skills become highly refined by this experience. Graduates have found great success in future instrument study. The feedback from teachers is that they have an incredible sense of beat, play rhythms accurately and great listening skills. Parents find that all they their child has learned in classes taken before Young Child comes together in these classes. The children are often asking their parents to continue music studies. note: It is not prerequiste to take other classes before taking Young Child classes
